Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta with Kantara Team

Fresh off the massive success of their film, actor-director Rishab Shetty and actress Rukmini Vasanth, the lead stars of the blockbuster prequel Kantara: Chapter 1, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday at the Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan.

The meeting took place as part of the promotional tour for the film, which has been receiving a phenomenal response across the country and globally for its depiction of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took to her official social media handle to share photographs from the meeting and expressed her deep admiration for the film’s theme and presentation.

In her post, the CM lauded the film, stating, “Met Rishab Shetty, actor and director of Kantara Chapter 1 and his team at the Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan today. The film beautifully reflects India’s spiritual depth and cultural richness, bringing alive the essence of our traditions. Works like Kantara proudly carry the spirit of our heritage to the global stage. Wishing the entire team great success in this remarkable cinematic journey.”

Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth were accompanied by other members of the Kantara: Chapter 1 team, including Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, the production banner, and Pragathi Shetty, who is also the film’s costume designer.

The Hombale Films team also expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and appreciation from the Delhi Chief Minister, acknowledging the significance of political support for art that promotes cultural roots.

The film, which serves as a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara, delves into the origins of the Daiva worship tradition in Tulunadu, set against the backdrop of the fourth-century Kadamba dynasty. Rishab Shetty is seen playing the role of Berme, a tribal protector, in the epic mythological action-thriller.

Kantara: Chapter 1 has shattered box office records since its release on October 2, 2025, cementing its status as a major success and drawing widespread praise for its visual grandeur, powerful performances, and rooted storytelling. The meeting with the Delhi CM further highlights the film’s growing cultural and national footprint.
