Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday dismissed speculation about an impending cabinet reshuffle, saying he has no information regarding any such move. His statement comes amid growing buzz within the Congress party circles about possible changes in the state cabinet to address internal demands and regional representation.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said, “I have not received any communication regarding a cabinet reshuffle. It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister and the party high command. As of now, there is no information about any changes.”
Reports had suggested that the Congress leadership was considering expanding or reshuffling the cabinet to accommodate senior leaders and maintain political balance ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections. Some party MLAs have also been publicly expressing discontent over the delay in cabinet expansion and lack of representation.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has maintained that any decision regarding changes in the cabinet would be taken in consultation with the AICC leadership, emphasizing party unity and performance-based assessments.
Political observers note that such speculation often surfaces before key political events or strategy meetings, but both the CM and the Dy CM have repeatedly dismissed rumours, calling them media speculation.
As of now, the Karnataka Congress government continues to focus on implementing its five guarantee schemes and preparing for upcoming local body elections, with no official word on a reshuffle.
