The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru and several surrounding districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day.
According to the IMD forecast, unstable weather conditions are expected to continue due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over the southern peninsula, resulting in moisture-laden winds and cloud buildup over Karnataka.

The following nine districts have been placed under a yellow alert for today:
- Bengaluru Urban
- Bengaluru Rural
- Ramanagara
- Tumakuru
- Mandya
- Chikkamagaluru
- Hassan
- Kodagu
- Chamarajanagar
Forecast Details
The IMD has predicted:
- Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 km/h).
- Localized heavy rain in interior and southern Karnataka.
- Chances of waterlogging in low-lying areas of Bengaluru city due to intense downpours in short durations.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors during lightning activity, avoid open fields, and secure loose items outdoors.
Bengaluru Weather Update
Morning skies in Bengaluru remained partly cloudy, but satellite images indicate rapidly developing cumulonimbus clouds.
The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28°C, while the minimum may dip to 20°C.
BBMP and disaster management teams have been put on alert to respond to flooding or tree-fall incidents.
Outlook for the Next Few Days
The IMD has suggested that rain activity will persist over South Interior Karnataka for the next 2–3 days, with scattered moderate showers expected till the weekend. Coastal regions may also witness isolated heavy rainfall.
Farmers and residents are advised to monitor IMD bulletins closely for updated alerts and avoid unnecessary travel during intense rain spells.
